Thacker Mountain Nature Hike
We did a hiking tour, going down the Fraser Canyon to hike the Stein River and Alexandra Bridge, then continued south to Hope. We chose to hike the Thacker Mountain Trails above Hope, between the confluence of the Coquihalla River and the Fraser River and Lake Kawkawa. The trails were in the Coastal forest with a few open spots and two marshes. Along the way we spotted a number of flowering plants. A few of them were photographed and shared here:
- Pacific Trillium (Trillium ovatum)
- western starflower (Lysimachia latifolia)
- Pacific bleeding heart (Dicentra formosa)
- Vanilla leaf (Achlys triphylla)
- fairybells (Prosartes sp.)
- (yellow) Chocolate lily (Fritillaria affinis)(more info)
- salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis)
- great horsetail (Equisetum telmatia)
- Cascade oregon-grape (Berberis nervosa)
The photos are stored as a Google Photos album (link) and also embedded into this post as a slideshow:

I would like to send you a photo of a bush with beautiful tiny pink honeysuckle type blossoms, blooming right now. It is on a large bush on Springhill Drive, just beside the entrance to Humphrey Road. It’s blooming in the ditch beside the main road right by where the spring is diverted by culvert under Springhill Drive. The blossoms are very small compared to a standard honeysuckle.
Thanks, Sylvia. My email is listed on the About page. I will walk down to the spot, but I have spotted it in the past too. We have a small shrub in our yard and a vine on the trellis.
