Reinecker Creek Nature Hike

Wildflower Journal Posted on 2025-06-25 by D. Smith2026-07-16

We traveled to Shuswap Lake to hike some of the trails in Herald Provincial Park.   We started by hiking into Margaret Falls, then we did a loop route up the east side of Reinecker Creek, then back on the west side to the start.    On the south side of the slopes is open forest with gravelly soils.   As we continued up the creek valley, we passed through cedar-hemlock-birch forest.    Along the way, we stopped to enjoy nature, taking a few photos, which are shared below.

All photos by the author, from that day.    Included here are:

  • red clover (Trifoloium pratense)
  • thimbleberry (Rubus parviflorus)
  • wild ginger (Asarum canadense)
  • false solomon’s seal berries (Maianthemum racemosum)
  • ocean spray (Holodiscus miscolor)
  • spreading dogbane (Apocynum androsaemifolium)
  • tiger lily (Lilium columbianum)
  • twinflower (Linnaea borealis)
  • mountain ladyslipper (Cypripedium montanum)
  • birch-leaved spirea (Spiraea betulifolia)

The album can also be seen at this link – Reinecker Creek

Another fine day of hiking in our area.
