Tod Mountain Nature Hike

Wildflower Journal Posted on 2025-07-07 by D. Smith2026-07-16

I was first on the Sun Peaks chairlift to hike from mid-station to the top of Tod Mountain.   The hike was in dry conditions for much of the route, but it was wet or snowy at the upper end.     Wildflowers were abundant in the subalpine zone and the whole route had some seasonal wildflowers emerging or in bloom.   Featured here are a few of the many spotted and photographed:

  • tall western groundsel (Senecio integerrimus)
  • western saxifrage (Saxifraga occidentalis)
  • marsh marigold (Caltha leptosepala)
  • globeflower (Trollius laxus sp.)
  • valerian (Valeriana sitchensis)
  • western meadowrue (Thalictrum occidentale)
  • mountain forget-me-nots (Myosotis alpestris sp.)
  • red paintbrush (Castilleja miniata)
  • stonecrop (Sedum sp.)

A Google Photos album is embedded here.   All photos by the author.

This album (with captions) can also be seen on Google Photos at this link – Tod Mountain Meadows

I will be back to hike other trails on Tod Mountain soon.
