Paul Lake Nature Hike
We drove up to the west end of Paul Lake and we hiked from the Paul Lake Park Group Site along the lake trail and continued up to the top of Gibraltar Rock, and then back by the same route. The views were outstanding on top. We stopped to observe and photograph flowering shrubs and wildflowers along the way, a few of which are shared here:
- saskatoon (Amelanchier alnifolia)
- Oregon grape and a bee (Mahonia aquifolium sp.)
- Rough-fruited fairy bells (Disporum trachycarpum)
- stoneseed/lemonweed (Lithospermum ruderale)
- arrow-leaved balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata )
- star-flowered false solomon’s seal (Smilacena stellata)
- round-leaved alumroot (Heuchera cylindrica)
- kinnikinnick (Arctostaphylus uva-ursi)

We are continuing to hike and paddle (and play tennis) every day. On some of these days, we encounter flora to photograph, then we share some of them.
