We hiked up the Trophy Mountain Trail to the upper tarns area in the alpine zone. Along the way we stopped to spot and photograph wildflowers and interesting plants, some of which are shared here.
When we emerged out of the forest, we were in alpine meadows. The early wave of wildflowers was over, but there were a few still in sheltered spots. We climbed the ridges from subalpine meadows to alpine ridges, crossing snow near the top part of hike. there were different flowering plants on the subalpine-alpine ridges – western pasqueflower (Anemone occidentalis) , marsh marigold (Caltha leptosepala), western moss-heather (Cassiope mertensia), mountain arnica (Arnica montana), subalpine fleabane (Erigeron peregrinus), alpine speedwell (Veronica wormskjoldii), Barclay’s willow (Salix barclayi), Eschscholtz’s buttercup (Ranunculus eschscholtzii), and white-margined pussytoes (Antennaria lantanata).
