Near the end of May I travelled south to the high plateau where I paddled Walloper Lake, then secured the boat, and drove over to Stake Lake. I hiked a route on the Stake Lake Trails. It was quiet and dry, but many shrubs and perennials were only starting to leaf out. Along the way I watched for flowering plants and a few are shared here.
In the gallery are heart-leaved arnica (Arnica cordifolia), wintergreen (Pyrola sp.), fairyslippers (Calypso bulbosa), and showy sedge (Carex spectabilis).

We will be back to hike these trails next month.
More information on some of these can be found on the Wildflowers Page.
