Spalding Hill Nature Hike
We stayed on the Pender Islands in spring to hike, paddle, and explore. Each hike was a nature hike with lots to see and enjoy. One of the hikes we did was up an informal trail to the top of Spalding Hill. There were some wet areas near the bottom and some open slopes near the top of the south-facing hill.
Shared here are some photos of plants we spotted along the rough trail – blackberry (Rubus ursinus), salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis), European holly (Ilex aquifolium), woodrush (Luzula comosa), sedge (Carex sp.), horsetails (Equisetum sp.), stairstep moss (Hylocomium splendens), chocolate lily (Fritillaria affinis), purple foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), miner’s-lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata) and field chickweed (Cerastium arvense).
A Google Photos album iss shared with both images and captions/IDs – Spalding Hill Nature Hike (link).
The album is also embedded here as a slideshow(no captions):
