Norman Beaumont Nature Hike
We hiked trails on the Pender Islands in April. One of the trails we did was on the South Island, up Mt. Norman and then down to the seashore in Beaumont Provincial Marine Park, now part of the Gulf Islands National Park. We enjoyed the mild spring weather on the Gulf Islands, and we also stopped to enjoy the wildflowers, flowering shrubs, and new plant growth along the way.
Some photos from our nature hike are shared here, spotted on open ridges, in the forest, and on bluffs near the water – blue-eyed Mary (Collinsia sp.), woodland madia (Anisocarpus madioides), broadleaved stonecrop (Sedum spathulifolium), fairy-slipper (Calypso bulbosa), spotted coralroot (Corallorhiza maculata), and harsh paintbrush (Castilleja hispida).
A link to the Google Photos Album (with captions/IDs) is provided here – Norman Beaumont Nature Hike (link)
An embedded slideshow is also shared here:
Some of these can also be spotted in our area in spring and early summer.
