Lodgepole Lake Nature Hike
On a sunny morning the outing was up at Lodgepole Lake – twice around the lake in a kayak, then a hike around the lake trail. At 1409 m, this is a mixed forest with lots of marshy areas and damp soils. The Lodgepole Lake Trail is a single track around the lakeshore. One side of the lake is a damp north-facing slope. As I hiked the trail I stopped to observe and photograph a few of these flowering plants:
| one-sided wintergreen (Moneses uniflora) | pink wintergreen (Pyrola asarafolia) |
| wild rose (Rosa sp.) | western meadow-rue (Thalictrum occidentale) |
| angelica (Angelica arguta) | bunchberry (Cornus canadensis) |
| sickletop lousewort (Pedicularis racemosa) | red columbine (Castilleja formosa) |
A slideshow of photos from the hike are shared here:
This album (with captions) can also be seen at this link – Lodgepole Lake
Note – two of the photos were a bit fuzzy so were substituted with other photos from the same area.
