Greenstone Mountain Nature Hike
On a sunny July day I drove to Greenstone Mountain Provincial Park and hiked a series of double track and single track trails and tracks through a variety of habitats. There were fine views from the top of the mountain at the Fire Lookout. Some of the trails were rugged and challenging and some were moderate. Along the way I observed birds, flowering plants, pollinators, and a wide menu from nature’s fare. I took many photos, then chose some of them for an album, shared here.
Shared in the album are the following – soopalallie (Shepherdia canadensis), lemon sagewort (Artemesia michauxiana), dwarf fireweed (Chamaenarion latifolium), black twinberry (Lonerica involucrata), white mountain rhododendron (Rhododendron albiflorum), northern gentian (Gentianella amerella sp.), grouse whortleberry (Vaccinuem scoparium), groundsel (Packera sp.), one-sided wintergreen (Orthundia secunda), swamp currant (Ribes triste), nodding onion (Allium cernuum), corydalis (Corydalis aurea), slender cinquefoil (Potentilla gracilis), white bog orchid (Platanthera dilatata), sticky geranium (Geranium viscosissimum), meadow hawkweed (Pilosella Caespitosa), a fritillary butterfly on orange Agoseris, aspen fleabane (Erigeron speciosus), self-heal (Prunella vulgaris), bird’s-foot trefoil (Lotus corniculatis), stonecrop (Sedum lanceolatum) and thimbleberry (Rubus parvilforus).
The album (with captions) can also be found at this link – Greenstone Mountain
