Grand Canyon Wildflowers
I backpacked Grand Canyon, hiking from the South Rim (8000 ft elevation) down trails to the river and then traversing the benchlands, doing a loop route over 4 days. Afterward I also did some day hikes down and back up. It was April and there was a bit of snow up on the South Rim, but 5000 feet below, it was spring near the Colorado River. I was keeping the pack light, and there were many miles to cover so I took some photos, including some wildflowers, but I got much better photos in subsequent trips to the southwest deserts.
Shared here are few flowers from the Grand Canyon hikes. On the top was some paintbrush, then on the upper slopes there were some spring flowering shrubs in the gullies. Shared here are phlox, prickly pear cactus, four o’ clocks, brittlebrush, sage, redbud, paintbrush, and yucca. Captions/IDs are included in the album in Google Photos – Grand Canyon Wildflowers.
From multiple trips to Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California, there are “reams” of photos, some of which will be shared on this website.
