Upper Aberdeen Hills Nature Hike
In the middle of August I hiked into the hills just below Coal Hill, across grassland slopes and through open douglas fir forest. This was a hike more than a nature walk, but I stopped to enjoy a few flowering or fruiting plants along the way.
Shared here are some photos – mountain ash (Sorbus sichenthus), a sedge (Carex sp.) from a seep zone, curly cup gumweed (Grindelia squarrosa), rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus nauseosus), lupines, and a late brown-eyed Susan (Gaillardia aristata).
