Tod Mountain Wildflowers
Every summer we take the chairlift at Sun Peaks up to mid-station to hike the upper part of the mountain. We enjoy hiking up the Headwalls route to Crystal Bowl to the top, then we wind through trails toward the peak. After having lunch at the summit, we usually pick a different route back, this time down Tod’s Backside Trail, hiking through the upper meadows of West Bowl before climbing back to the south side of the mountain. Along the way were many wildflowers in bloom, some at the end of the bloom period, and some still emerging. A few images are shared here in a slideshow. Cow parsnip, groundsel, jacob’s ladder, forget me not, sandwort, death camas, sedum, buckwheat, paintbrush, and old man’s whiskers are featured in this post.
