From the Ridge Mountain Road to the southwest from Lac le Jeune, I hiked tracks up through the hills to the Ridge Lakes at 1470m (4822 ft.) on a mid-August day. All was quiet in this remote area. Along the way, I observed a few wildflowers, berries, and flowering shrubs, a few of which are shared here – baneberry (Actaea rubra sp.), slender cinquefoil (Potentilla gracilis), pearly everlasting (Anaphalis margaritacea), great northern aster (Canadanthus modestus), eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis), fringed grass of parnassus (Parnassia fimbriata), birch-leaved spirea (Spirea betulifolia), fireweed (Chamaenerion angustifolium), and arnica (Arnica cordifolia).
