We hiked from one of the Coquihalla Summit rest stops up to the top of Zupjok Peak. The trail on the lower slopes passed through douglas fir and alpine fir forests, with some cedar and balsam areas. We hiked up into subalpine meadows and at the top of the mountain we were in an alpine environment. Most of the wildflowers and flowering shrubs were finished blooming and we saw only the late emergence flowers and a number of invasive species in disturbed areas near the highway.
Shared here are a few photos from that hike – pearly everlasting (Anaphalis margaritacea), goldenrod (Solidago canadensis), leatherleaf saxifrage (Leptarrhena pyrolifolia), pixie-cups (Cladonia pixidata), sedges (Carex sp.), and running clubmoss (Lycopodium annotinum).

Various pollinators on flowers are featured in this second gallery. Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
We saw more plants and insects than the few shared here, but it was a day of hiking, and we kept a steady pace up and down, taking less time for photos along the way.
