We hiked from Lundbom Lake to the top of Sugarloaf at the end of the first week of October.     Much of the hike was on south-facing open grasslands.    We continued our hike through the hills in mixed forests and through grasslands hills, returning back to the starting point after 3 hours of hiking.    We had not expected to see any wildflowers at all, and we were surprised to see flowers still in good shape – lots of yarrow (Achillea millefolium), stork’s-bill (Erodium cicutarium), one sticky geranium (Geranium viscosissimum), lots of sandwort (Arenaria capillaris), lots of aspen fleabane (Erigeron speciosus), umber pussytoes (Antennaria umbrinella), lots of old man’s whiskers (Geum triflorum) on top of Sugarloaf, and a couple of brown-eyed Susans (Gaillardia aristata).
