Rivers Trail Nature Hike
We hiked the Rivers Trail from the west end, then did a loop out to the Thompson River, then back, a km hike. Along the way we stopped to enjoy the flowering shrubs and trees at trailside – honeysuckle (Lonerica sp.), red ossier dogwood (Cornus stolonifera sp.), mountain ash (Sorbus sp.), chokecherry (Prunus virginiana), oregon grape (Mahonia sp.), black twinberry (Lonerica involucrata) and wild rose (Rosa sp).

And there were some wildflowers along the way too – hoary alyssum (Berteroa incana -a noxious plant), mustard (Sysimbrium altissimum), star-flowered false Solomon’s seal (Smilacena stellata), milkweed (Asclepia speciosa), and campion/catchfly (Silene sp.).
We will be back to hike this trail in late fall again.
