On Zoa Peak
On a hot summer day we drove south to hike Zoa Peak in the Coquihalla Summit. We got on the trail early and hiked steadily. There were lots of wildflowers in bloom, but many were photographed on other hikes and for this day, the pace for the group was steady with only a few brief stops. We wanted to get up and back before the day got too hot (39º C forecast). I was heading to Vancouver that afternoon too, so time to photograph wildflowers was minimal, but a few images were worth sharing.
Included in the photo album are bronze-bells (Anticlea occidentalis), sickletop lousewort (Pedicularis speciosa), a checkerspot butterfly on valerian (Euphydryas sp. on Valeriana sp.), small-leaved montia (Montia parvifolia), orange agoseris (Agoseris aurantiaca), goldenrod (Solidago sp. ), paintbrush (Castilleja sp.), and Cascade beardtongue (Penstemon serraulatus).
