On Wheeler Mountain
On a sunny day at the end of September, we hiked a 15 km route to the top of Wheeler Mountain. Some fall color was already underway, especially with the douglas maples, grasses, and aspens.
There were a small number of wildflowers in flower, but many varieties in seed or had started to wither for another year. Along the way we spotted eyebright (Euphrasia sp.), harebells (Campanula rotundifolia), white chicory (Cichorium intyubus), threadleaf sandwort (Arenaria capillaris), spreading fleabane (Erigeron divergens), and Okanogan fameflower (Talinum sediforme sp.).

This was a fine hike through the upper grasslands and douglas fir forests in a quiet, remote area to the northwest of Kamloops.
