On the Upper Embleton Trails
we hiked to the top of the Embleton Trails and encountered patches of snow at 1450m. the forest below was starting to feel more like spring.
There are large tracts of aspens on the south-facing slopes, our favorite part of the trail.
On Skyline Ridge a few old man’s whiskers were showing their first spring flowers.
In the meadow near the top, chocolate lilies were growing, ready to flower in June.
In the cutblock, lupines were developing and will flower in June. Some hail fell on us, but left raindrops on the leaves.
In another month, the trails will be flanked by many wildflowers, calling us back for another hike up from Heffley Lake.
