On the Stein Valley Trail
We hiked into the lower Stein Valley (out and back for 17.5 km) in May and enjoyed the deep valley with the rushing, cascading river surrounded by mountains. The eastern end was dry forest but the far end was in a Coast Range ecosystem. The star of the day was flowering red currant on the rock slopes. A few photos of plants are shared here. I’ll be heading up that way shortly. Did some research on it last winter and just curious about doing some hammock camping. I’m supposing there are plenty of trees near trail to hang? Think I’ll go as far as the suspension bridge. That where you went?
Hi, Phil
Not that far. The bridge and back is a long day.
