On the Mesa Trail
On a summer hike on a hot day, I hiked the Sunset Trail and the Mesa Trail in Kenna Cartwright Park in the morning, moving along at a good pace, trying to finish the hike before it became too warm. I did stop to enjoy a few flowering plants along the way. I hiked a route where I know there are some blazing stars and I wasn’t disappointed.
Shared here are blazing star (Mentzelia laevicaulis), goldenrod (Solidago canadensis), rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus nauseosus), wax currant (Ribes cereum), curlycup gumweed (Grindelia squarrosa) , and prickly lettuce (Lactuca sp.).
