On a late September day I paddled around the lake twice, then secured the boat and went for a short exploratory walk along the lakeshore.     Fall was well-established at this elevation, with late flowers and berries somewhat scarce after a summer of drought, but it was interesting to examine the various leaves on perennials and shrubs.

Spotted on the lakeshore and shared here are silverweed (Potentilla anserina), leafy aster (Aster foliaceus), cotoneaster (Cotoneaster lucidus?), oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare sp.), swamp currant (Ribes sp.), sow thistle (Sonchis arvensis), showy aster (Aster conspicuus), and birch (Betula sp.) leaves.

The lake and the trail were both quiet and that makes all the difference.
