On the Douglas Plateau
I checked out Minnie Lake on the Quilchena-Douglas Plateau, then drove backroads to Douglas Lake (which I paddled in the wind), toured backroads toward Westwold, and hiked in to a remote waterfall, taking photographs along the way, some of which are shared here as part of the Wildflower Journal.
Abundant in the open grasslands was hawksbeard (crepis tectorum).
Less frequent, but always welcome were solitary flowers on stems of pale agoseris (agoseris glauca).
Swaths of pale comandra were clustered into a few open areas.
Cinquefoil (potentilla recta) had emerged and will soon be abundant.
I hiked into seldom-viewed Weyman Falls (110 feet high) and enjoyed the creek cascading over the cliffs in the canyon.
Paddling and hiking were the goals for the day, but wildflowers along the way enhanced the day’s travels.
