On the Black Lake Trail
On a summer morning, we hiked from Roche Lake to the far end of Black Lake and back. This was a quiet and pleasant hike. Along the way, we stopped to observe any flowering plants. At the lakeside, we enjoyed dragonflies, water insects, ducks, loons, and shoreline birds.
A few images from our hike are shared here.
Included are strawberries (Fragaria virginiana), yellow-fronted bumblebee on thistles (Bombus flavifrons), fireweed (Chamaenerion angustifolium), Canada mint (Mentha canadensis), sow thistle (Sonchus oleraceus), aspen fleabane (Erigeron speciosus), and a great spangled fritillary (Speyeria cybele).
