On Buse Hill
We hiked up Buse Hill in April on a nice day to enjoy the exercise, the views, and the signs of spring. We took photos along the way of whatever interested us:
Balsamroot was in bloom on the south-facing slopes.
Western spring beauties were not far away.
On the Buse Hill cliffs were orange crustose lichens, but also some yellow-green lichens.
We know that Okanogan fameflower blooms on top of the hill so we checked out the early stage growth.
On the way back down we spotted sticky geranium with lots of leaf growth.
And on lower slopes, the stalks and leaves of lemonweed was unfurling.
We hope to return to the top of the bluffs to see the later spring flowers of shrubby penstemon, Okanogan fameflower, the vetches, daisies, and buckwheat.
