Niskonlith Hills Spring Wildflowers
After paddling on Shuswap Lake, I drove up the Bear Creek road to the Niskonlith hills area for a quick check on wildflowers in bloom. The main avalanche lily bloom was diminishing, but there were wide swaths of balsamroot in bloom. A few images are shared here. Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
The photos include long bluebells (Mertensia longifolia), yellow glacier lily (Erythronium grandiflorum), western spring beauty (Claytonia lanceolata), upland larkspur (Delphinium nuttallianum), and arrow-leaved balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata).
We will be seeing many of these later in sub-alpine zones at the end of spring into early summer.
