Sage – Arnica – Fescue Trails in March
We hiked the trails on the benchlands overlooking the river and a few early spring arrivals were noted. A few yellow bells (fritillaria pudica) graced the open spots off the trail.
New leaf growth for upland larkspur (delphinium nuttallianum) was emerging among the grasses.
A mourning cloak was active, landing long enough for me to get a quick shot.
Along the trail, a pair of bluebirds flitted in the sagebrush and landed long enough for us to admire the blues.
There was mostly faded grasses and some younger ponderosa pines in sheltered spots along the trail, digitally painted for this image.
We continue to hike other trails most days of the year. Some of those will also be shared on this website.
