Another Garden Tour
Every week we go into the garden and take the time to enjoy the perennial beds, rockery, slopes, and borders. When the light is right and there is no wind, we try to get some good photos of the plants that are blooming.
A barberry shrub is the star in a shaded border next to the house. Small yellow flowers last about two weeks. The flowers have “six sepals and six petals in alternating whorls of three.”
We enjoy finding varieties of sandwort while we are out hiking, and for this reason we purchased some plants at the nursery.
We have found thrift in bloom on rocky hillsides near the ocean in the Gulf Islands and we have a few plants in the rockeries in the garden with white or pink flowers.
Phlox produces many flowers and fills in all the spaces around, requiring regular pruning to maintain its growth habit
One of the most reliable plants in the garden is Cerastium. Snow in summer will grow in all sorts of locations and spread if allowed to. We enjoy the semi-tranparent white flowers over a long season.
Daylilies, peonies, and hosta flowers will appear soon so tune back in for another update.
