McQueen Nature Hike
We hiked the McQueen Lake Trails on a quiet summer day and enjoyed the ponds, meadows, and forested trails along the way.
We were pleased to spot a rattlesnake plantain (an orchid) in bloom. Prince’s pine (a wintergreen) was in flower beside forested trails. Inside an old homesteader’s cabin I spotted strawberry blight. Nodding onion (Allium) graced the trails in several spots. the usual summer wildflowers were abundant, including white hawkweed.

This was a quiet hike. There were no other hikers. We spotted deer, ducks, butterflies, and many birds along the way. Another fine day in the uplands forests.
