Leighton Lake Loop
In the first week of September I hiked a loop route around Leighton Lake, including a side route to the Bluff Lookout, and the northern shoreline of Tunkwa Lake. Along the way I stopped to observe wildflowers and wildfruits.
Shared here are fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium), sow thistle (Sonchis arvenis), asters, white prairie asters (A. ericoides sp.), dock (Rumex sp.), a grasslands eggshell, oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare sp.), snowberry (Symphoricarpos albus), slender hawksbeard (Crepis sp.), salsify (Tragopogon dubius), and yarrow (Achillea millefolium).

Most of the hike was through dry grasslands, but there was strips of riparian zones too, and some open douglas fir forest. This is a lovely hike for any month of the year.
