In the Six Mile Hills
I paddled Pat Lake, then went for a short hike in the hills on a smoky day, taking photos along the way, a few of which are shared here.
Prickly roses had finished flowering and rose hips were now ready.
Rabbit-brush was in bloom all across the hillsides of the area.
Common snowberry (symphoricarpos albus) had well developed displays in wet areas.
White prairie asters (aster ericoides spp) flowered on dry slopes covered or surrounded by bunchgrass.
Milkweed had bloomed in early summer, but some were emerging with small flower buds in fall.
Ponderosa pines stood on the edges of grassland hills.
As summer is approaching an end so are most of the wildflowers….
