In the McArthur Island Channel
I paddled from the McArthur Island Boat Launch around Rabbit Island, then up the channel that goes around the north side (the slough) and back. In the channel were many ducks and geese, but there was also shrubs in bloom, like this viburnum.
Last year’s berries were still on the shrub, but this year’s blooms smelled cloyingly sweet.
The distinctive leaves and five-petaled flowers make this easier to identify. I did find one four-petaled flower on one of the plants.
And, there were goslings below the hanging branches in the slough.
