In the Hills Above Kamloops Lake
On a day near the Fall Equinox I hiked into the hills above Kamloops Lake, starting from the end of Abbey Road. A summer of drought had sent most flowering plants to fruit and many past that stage. Still in flower or in good stead were fall-flowering varieties, evergreen species, and some weedy annuals, but even the most noxious plants can have beautiful flowers.
Shared here are field mustard (Brassica rapa), white campion (Silene latifolia), silverleaf phacelia (Phacelia hastata), curlycup gumweed (Grindelia squarrosa), fleabane (Erigeron sp.), and rabbitbrush (Ericameria sp.). Can you match the names to the images?

There is more variety at the edge of riparian zones in the hills so on an upcoming hike I will tarry at those spots to see what is still flowering and fruiting.
