Helliwell Park Wildflowers
While on Denman Island we took the ferry across to Hornby Island, then we hiked Helliwell Provincial Park. The route was through the forest and out to the rocky headland at St. John’s Point, then along the open seabluffs back to the start.
Many wildflowers were spotted on the hike, including Menzies larkspur (Delphinium menziesii), seep yellow monkeyflower (Mulimulus sp. ), foothills desert parsley (Lomatium utriculatum), popcornflower (Plagiobothrys scouleri) , blue-eyed Mary (Collinsia sp.) chickweed (Stellaria sp.), coltsfoot (Petistates sp.), seablush (Plectritis congesta), daisies (Erigeron sp.), and stork’s-bill (Erodium sp.).
