Cooney Bay in Fall
A summer of extended dry, hot weather withered most wildflowers to dormancy, but the floodlands near Cooney Bay remained wet through much of summer. A few wildflowers can be spotted along the river shore near Kamloops Lake. Click an image for a lightbox view and caption.
As a bonus, there were about 50 pelicans across the estuary. I paddled the shallows to get a bit closer, but they were buffered by a wide expanse of shallow water over silty-muddy estuary islands. Some photos are on Kamloops Kayak.
