In 2017 we traveled to the Cariboo to paddle and hike. We went to and paddled Big Bar Lake, then we traveled north to camp at and paddle Lac le Hache. We continued north and east to camp at, paddle, and hike at Horsefly Lake. We have posts on paddling the lakes on kamloopskayak.com and posts on the hikes at kamloopstrails.ca, and now we are sharing some of the flora and fauna of our Cariboo Lakes outings.
Shared here are some images – wild rose (Rosa sp.), paper birch forests (Betula sp.), twisted stalk (Streptopus amplexifolius), false solomon’s seal (Maianthemum racemosum), bunchberry (Cornus canadensis), and salsify (Tropogodon sp.).
All photos by the author. click an image for a lightbox (larger) view and a caption/ID.
Also shared here are photos of barrows goldeneyes (Bucephala islandica), and osprey (Pandion haliaetus), a loon (Gavia immer) , a bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), and a bee (Bombus sp.) on self-heal.
Over the winter, I am going back over older photos from many explorations of trails and waterways. There are more and some will be featured on this website.
