At Sussex Lake
Sussex Lake is a backcountry lake near the Surrey Lake Summit at 1385 m (4543 ft). I paddled two of the lakes in the area and explore the lakeshore and access roads while out for a half day outing.
In shallow bays in Sussex Lake Narrow-leaved Bur-Reed (Sparganium angustifolium) was starting to flower. It is an aquatic plant growing in water up to 2.5 m deep. It is a member of the cat-tail family. It is also called floating bur-reed.
Near the lake we stopped to enjoy both Pale Agoseris and Orange Agoseris (Agoseris aurantiaca), Broad-leaved Arnica (Arnica latifolia), and Tufted Vetch (Vicia Cracca). Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
