An Outer Inks Nature Hike
On a mid-spring day, I drove to the trailhead for the Outer Inks Trails, just off the Coquihalla Highway off-ramp. There are single track trails, double tracks through the forest, and backroads, across a wide area on the northeast side of Greenstone Mountain. The area sees ATVs, motorcycles, mountain bikes, and a few hikers. This is a network of trails across the douglas fir forested slopes.
On this day, i hiked the trails and stopped to observe birds, insects, wildflowers, and the natural features of the area. Shared here are a few images – alumroot (Heuchea cylindrica), wild rose (Rosa acicularis), arnica (Arnica cordifolia), star-flowered false solomons-seal (Smilacena racemosa), catchfly (Silene vulgaris), red paintbrush (Castilleja miniata), Canada violet (Viola canadesis), pearly everlasting (Anaphalis margaritacea), brown-eyed Susan (Gaillardia aristata), a willowherb (Epilobeum sp.) , and yellow agoseris (Agoseris glauca).

Many hikes will follow through summer and fall and I will stop to observe the wildflowers and flowering shrubs as they appear, on the trails.
